OPTIMUM Yacht Racing Team from Greece celebrates its 30th Birthday this year and joins RMSR for 8th time. Team OPTIMUM has competed on board its FARR 52OD OPTIMUM 3 in 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2012, 2014 and 2018. In the stormy 2004 edition of the race, Team OPTIMUM was the overall handicap winner in both IRC & ORC. OPTIMUM 3 also reached the podium in Class 1 or 2 in IRC or ORC or both in 2012, 2014 and 2018. In 2023, Team OPTIMUM-Samos Steamship returns to Malta with OPTIMUM S (ex INDIAN), a Carkeek 47 Grand Prix, acquired in 2022 from Perth Australia.
“We are on a steep learning curve in terms of getting to know the modes of OPTIMUM S. In this second season we feel more confident to push harder and the Team managed 3rd overall in IRC and 1st overall in ORC in the 3rd edition of the AEGEAN 600 in July. We eagerly join RMSR to measure ourselves and our weapon racing along more than one hundred serious entries from all over the world thanks to our great sponsor “SAMOS STEAMSHIP”, says Team co-Principal Periklis Livas.
Full on preparations, crew training and selection, systems maintenance and service is all climaxing ahead of the departure of OPTIMUM S to Malta. As always, Team OPTIMUM will combine experienced members with young guns to form a formidable lineup eager to push as hard as possible.
