{"id":686,"date":"2015-05-19T08:32:06","date_gmt":"2015-05-19T05:32:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/optimumsailing.gr\/wordpress\/?p=686"},"modified":"2015-05-19T08:32:06","modified_gmt":"2015-05-19T05:32:06","slug":"mixed-salad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.optimumsailing.gr\/wordpress\/mixed-salad\/","title":{"rendered":"Mixed Salad!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Athens, Monday, May 18<sup>th<\/sup>, 2015, 10:00.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The past weekend was the third consecutive that OPTIMUM Yacht Racing Team campaigned hard, logging so far in no fewer than 13 individual races in the 2015\u00a0 season.\u00a0 The OPTIMUM Team rolls nicely into its 22<sup>nd<\/sup> season and on Saturday scored a bullet during the 30-mile coastal \u201cPatroklos Race\u201d organized by Nautical Club Voula.\u00a0 On Sunday, OPTIMUM 3-ASPIDA-SAXOBANK did not repeat Saturday\u2019s success and had to settle with a score of 9 and 8 on the two Windward\/Leeward 6-mile courses\u00a0 set by the Race Committee.\u00a0 \u00a0On Saturday the breeze was from the SSE and top wind speed recorded was 13 knots.\u00a0 On Sunday, it went more southerly and lighter never exceeding 10 knots.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201cAlthough we tried our best both days the results don\u2019t show it.\u00a0 On Saturday, we jump started perfectly, tacked a minute or two later, and controlled the race to Patroklos island holding always the right side of the 15 mile upwind course.\u00a0 On the downwind return to Voula, we sailed smart and efficiently allowing main rival Bullet TP52 to pass but not extend more than the handicap time under ORCi system and enjoyed our first win for the season with a margin 2\u201948\u201d on almost 4 hours of racing.\u00a0 Sunday was a light and patchy wind affair and OPTIMUM 3-ASPIDA-SAXOBANK suffered from average starts that allowed limited tactical choices to our afterguard in both races.\u00a0 The crew performed well, lessons learned and we just need to swallow a 9, 8 score that left us trailing in 10<sup>th<\/sup> place overall for the day.\u00a0 I pull the \u201cMixed Salad\u201d flag for this third racing weekend and look forward for more action in 14 days\u201d comments valuable team member and pitman Nikos Apostolakis.\u00a0 (For the record Bullet vs Optimum stands at 5-8)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Sponsors<\/span><strong><span lang=\"EN-US\"> ASPIDA<\/span><\/strong><span lang=\"EN-US\"> and <strong>SAXOBANK \u00a0<\/strong>showed off their colors along the Attica coast from Voula up to almost Sounio and back on Saturday and all day long on Sunday inshore in the gulf between Voula and Kavouri.\u00a0 The crew line-up included Alexandros Sofroniadis, Gary Gabri, Stratis Tsamparlis, Giannis Kapos, George Hatzigeorgiou, Nikos Apostolakis, Alexis Chrysochoides, Kostas Makridis, Manolis Markogiannakis, George Kyragiannis, Tassos Dikastopoulos, Patroklos Tachtatzis, Lambros Nakis, Manos Roudas, Periklis Livas, Nikos Lazos in total on both days.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Remember to follow our OPTIMUM facebook page at \u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/teamoptimum\" target=\"_blank\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/teamoptimum<\/span><\/a><span lang=\"EN-US\"> and like our photos and videos that we regularly post.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Athens, Monday, May 18th, 2015, 10:00.
